「食べ物の為に」Tsujiri Part 2
Yay, I finally got to meet up with Kiyora again after the last time she came over to my place!

We went for Tonkutsu King Ramen at Orchid Hotel first.
I didn't take any pictures there because I was really warm with my thick jacket and it was raining, which made the place quite stuffy. All I wanted to do was eat and get out. I tried the normal/ basic ramen for the first time instead of my usual Black Spicy Ramen and I have to say, Black Spicy tastes better.
I felt that the Basic one was kind of salty.

After that, we went to my highly raved Tsujiri again!
Man, I'm bringing everyone there!
This time, I finally decided to get out of my comfort zone and try something different.
Our high tea [right after lunch?!]

The cups are actually really tiny, which is why I placed it at the back so it doesn't seem that dwarfed. Compared to my usual Tsujiri Shaved Ice [O-maccha], this is probably 1/3 that size?
And yes, I finally got the chance to taste their Roll cake!
Finally, it's always sold out when I'm there!
The one on the left is O-maccha while the one on the right is Sesame with... something that's really long and hard to remember. I only remember that "it is something like soy flavour" for the yellow cream stuff.

See, it is really REALLY tiny. Kiyora and I were joking about how we will finish this in about 4~5 sips if we took normal sips.
Nonetheless, this taste nice and rich with moderate sweetness.

Maccha roll cake was delicious. The cake was light and the cream was not too sweet. I can never get overdose of maccha despite having a maccha drink, maccha roll cake with maccha cream filling.

This is their new item, the sesame roll cake with sesame cream in the centre and the yellow cream is something like soy. [I really cannot remember what is it called...] Very refreshing! The two things I was obsessed with in Japan was sesame and maccha! The sesame gave a very nice texture to the soft roll cake and the taste was not overwhelming - complemented my drink very well in fact.

I will definitely recommend you guys to get a omaccha drink to go with the sesame cake. I think it is a better combination and you will not be overwhelmed by the omaccha.

Blogging about this makes me want to go back already!

Okay anyway, abrupt ending for you.
I'm gonna reply to Kiyora's blogger tag now!

Night out with Elfaine & Tsuriki
Way overdue but I met up with Elfaine for dinner some time 2~3 weeks ago.
We met at Bugis and shopped around for a bit.
It has been so long since I last went there!
I'm kinda bored there though.
I'm so used to buying stuff from Korea and Japan online and have them delivered to my doorstep.

Anyhow, we had Japanese food for dinner!
Ever since I got back from Japan, it seems that all I ever eat is Japanese cuisine.

Serving is MAD HUGE.
I couldn't finish it. First portion of my meal was pretty decent but soon the saltiness caught up. The serving was really generous though, with the ingredients and all.

After that, Elfaine drove us down to town to meet up with Tsuriki after her work ends at 10.30pm.
Well, we fell down once [because of our ridculous heels] and then a few more "almost fell" before we finally got to Starbucks at Liat Tower to meet Tsuriki.
Such a treacherous journey...
Anyhow, we reached early and so we decided to take a few pictures!

I got one of my favourites, Iced Hojicha!

Then goofed around a little

And what's a girls' night out without some juicy gossip and updates of our lives?

Anyhow, after Tsuriki arrived, we didn't take any pictures because she was without make up so I didn't ask her to camwhore together.
So, just us again!

After being done with our first cups, we moved into the cafe [because there were finally some seats vacated!] and Tsuriki and I both ordered another venti cup. I think it was already around 2am that time.

We chatted till around 3+ then Elfaine left first because she was really tired and still had to drive home so we told her to leave first.
After that, Tsuriki and I stayed and continued chatting till around 4am+!
I told her that I must have really grown up because I no longer club till 4am but actually hang out at a cafe till 4am.
I'm finally a fine young adult now!

Okay since I can't tell you what we chatted about, I'm going to end abruptly.

J-Obsession 2013 at The Grand Cathay Building
So, I have pictures but I did not go there to join/ see the cosplayers.
I went there for...

Uh huh uh huh~ Tony Tony Chopper!
If only I can take this home T.T

Anyhow, just a few pictures with Aki, who was with me that day.
A lot of our pictures came out too yellow so I decided not to try editing them because I am really lazy. That's a valid reason, all else is irrelevant.

I've been informed by my reader that she was unable to get me the Tokyo Bananas! She saw it but because she will be traveling elsewhere after Tokyo and that will mean by the time she gets back to SG, my tokyo banana will be about 5 days to expiry. But anyway, I'm really grateful she tried to look for it for me. Also, the Starbucks Japan Sakura 2013 Card is OOS too... WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME! First, their tumblers. Now, even their starbucks card?!

Anyway, she is incredibly nice to even agree to helping me grab the stuffs. I know how troublesome it is to help people buy stuff and I did tell her to grab it at the airport [because I thought she was coming back by Haneda/Narita] so it was only normal that she did not buy it for me when she saw them at Tokyo Station.

Anyhow, I made a request to change Tokyo banana to Osaka banana! I heard that Tokyo banana is over-rated and Osaka banana actually tastes better. Well, understandable since the place people always want to go when it comes to Japan is Tokyo and thus, the Tokyo omiyage is more well known. Osaka is like the "food capital" in Japan, thus I am very hopeful about Osaka Banana! [I kinda regret I didn't know this earlier else I would have grabbed it when I was in Osaka!]

Okay, abrupt ending for you.
I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed about my Osaka banana and Shiroi Koibito!

Sighing off [yes, SIGH],

xoxo

[Sponsored] Biore UV Watery Essence Review - The Number 1 Selling Sunscreen in Japan since 2011
This category of product has got to be one of my favourites when it comes to skincare products because it is just so indispensable!
Finally, this product has hit our sunny shores!

Biore UV Water Essence [SGD $18.90/50ml]

Isn't it just so adorable of EK Media for sending me this product together with the bowl? Well there's a reason for the items that were sent along with the product itself - the bowl represents hydration while the lemon represents the citrus extract used in the sunscreen.

Do you know that this product is the Number one sunscreen in Japan since 2011?

The Biore UV Watery Essence is of a water based formula and provides protection to SPF 50+ PA+++, providing high protection for our skin without making our skin feel burdened with product.

Why the lemon?

That's because this product contains citrus extract which, together with hyaluronic acid, helps to hydrate and soften our skin.

Seeing all these Japanese words make me feel happy.

Fret not, of course they have the English version for us Singaporeans!

So what do I think of this product after using it for a week?

This product is slightly different from the usual sunblock/ sunscreen I've used as it comes in a cream texture. At first I was skeptical and afraid it might be harder to be absorbed and leave a white overcast but my fears were all for nothing. The product was absorbed by my skin effortlessly and did not leave any white overcast at all. Best of all, it felt so light on my skin, it is like it isn't even there! Well, it isn't liked by Japanese for no reason!

I will give this product a...

9/10

I've been really liking my sunblocks/ sunscreens lately, they all perform so well and exceed my expectations. It just keeps getting better and better!

You can find this product in hypermarkets, supermarkets, pharmacies [drugstores like Watsons and Guardian] islandwide at SGD $18.90/ tube of 50ml.

Go grab one for yourself today!

[Sponsored] Amethystory Mineral Yogurt Mask
Booyah!
Remember how I've blogged about Amethystory twice before?
Well, well, guess who just launched a new product?

That's right, it's none other than amethystory! [Pretty darn obvious...]

This new product is the...

Amethystory Mineral Yogurt Mask [SGD $18.90/60g]

The Amethystory Mineral Yogurt Mask builds upon the natural goodness of premium yogurt with the additional special blend of Amethyst, Tranexamic acid, Hyaluronic acid, Bio Energy Fluid, Ginseng and Olive Oil. Your skin becomes instantly brighter, feels more moisturized and soft. With regular use, a fairer and more even skin tone will give you a natural radiant glow from within.

What's so great about all these ingredients, you say?

  • Amethyst - Enhances skin rejuvenation & cell growth, promotes the synthesis of collagen and efficient detoxification enhancing circulation, promote anti-oxidation and skin cell regeneration.
  • Tranexamic Acid - Effective in counteracting melanin growth to fight dark spots and lighten complexion
  • Hyaluronic Acid - Provides intense hydration & retains water in your skin
  • Bio-Energy Fluid - Contains ample minerals and trace mineral elements to nourish skin
  • Yogurt - Naturally formed Lactic Acid and enzymes help to hydrate and soothe the skin, equipped with natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, works as a natural moisturizer

The product claims to :
  • Intensively nourishes and rejuvenates skin, for a soft and smooth complexion.
  • Has excellent whitening and brightening of skin, giving a naturally fair and radiant complexion.
  • Deeply hydrates and locks in moisture, for supple and healthy looking skin.
  • Help to keep skin refreshed and cool.
  • Has a non-greasy formula for easy and deep absorption into skin.

Time for me to put these claims to a test and try it out!
Usage directions are simple. After cleansing, gently massage an adequate amount onto the entire face. Leave the mask on for around 15 -30 minutes to allow the nutrients to be absorbed into the skin. Then rinse off thoroughly.

I used this for a good three days before my butter fingers strucked and I dropped the whole tub on the floor...
Anyhow, I really liked what it did to my skin! Instantly after rinse, I could see a significant brightening and whitening effect, making my skin look more radiant. My skin felt more supple, proving that the hydrating effect was performing up to standard. The product left my skin feeling smoother after the rinse. While the product was being applied and left on my face, I did not feel much discomfort as it was not greasy. Oh yes, the smell is quite strong but I was fine with that as I actually liked the smell.

You have to remember to wash the mask off after putting it on for 15-30 minutes as this is not a leave on and go to sleep mask!
I will rate this product an 8.5/10, given the economical price and ability to perform up to all the claims well. My favourite definitely has to be the fact that my skin looked so much more radiant after doing the mask!

Give your face a well deserved treat, literally. The Amethystory Mineral Yogurt Mask can be found in Guardian, Watsons and all leading supermarkets & pharmacies. Don't forget to "like" Amethystory's facebook page for their latest updates and promotions!

[Sponsored] Vita Green Lingzhi - beauty and health from inside out.
Hi girls!
Today, I will be introducing to you a supplement product from Hong Kong which has been the best selling product of its kind for 10 years in Hong Kong itself!

Vita Green Lingzhi (Reishi) [SGD $129/bottle of 72 capsules]

I'm sure many, especially chinese, would have heard of Lingzhi.
So, why is Lingzhi [Reishi] such a popular herb?

Reason why it is so popular amongst all is because it not only has health benefits but also beauty benefits!

Body Benefits includes:
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Promote blood circulation
  • Gives you extra energy

Beauty Benefits include:
  • Anti-aging
  • Antioxidant
  • Reduce allergy symptoms
  • Reduce white hair
  • Reduce age spots
  • Help sleep

Vita Green is made of six different coloured Lingzhi, each with different benefits for different organs!

It is recommended to take 1 - 2 capsules daily. Being an oral product, I decided to take just 1 capsule daily.

The size of capsules are not too big so there was not much of a problem in swallowing them. Since they are in the form of capsules, there was no herb smell, which is a plus point as I really don't like herbal smell.

After taking it for close to 2 weeks, I have to say I did not observe a noticable difference yet. I believe it's probably because I don't have a specific problem to look at for possible improvements. However, I will continue taking it as I believe that it can only do good, not harm.

You can purchase this product at a special introductory price of just SGD $109!
The Vita Green Lingzhi can be found at drug stores like Guardian and Watsons.

Go grab yourself a bottle if you are someone interested in taking supplements. Take advantage of the special introductory price!

[Sponsored] K Palette's Real Lasting Liner (Waterproof Super Black) Review
Hello people!
Back with another review!
Recently I've been into doing darker eye-make and the release of this product cannot be more timely for me.
Eye make up is very important as eyes are the windows to our soul.

I'm sure many girls are already familiar with the brand I'm going to share today:

K Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner in Waterproof Super Black [SGD $19.90/box]

Yes, that's their highly coveted eyeliner! I'm sure this product is the "holy grail" eyeliner of many ladies, right? Personally, I've tried my first K Palette eyeliner about 2 years ago and have been a big fan since then.

K Palette is constantly seeking to improve their widely popular eyeliner to satisfy the needs of their consumers. This time, they made improvements that all ladies look for in an eyeliner, namely:
  • Longer-lasting power
  • Faster drying after application to prevent panda eyes (SMUDGEPROOF!)
  • Even higher resistance to water, sweat & sebum (WATERPROOF!)
  • Ease of removal without straining the delicate skin around your eyes
  • The signature super fine & soft, yet structured brush, that enables you to draw beautiful finish lines as well as barely visible lines at the roots of your eyelashes
  • Addition of 3 types of beauty essences that helps to care for the delicate skin around your eye area during application (Hyaluronic acid Na, Water soluble collagen and Swertia Japonica essence)

I'm sure one the above mentioned are definitely qualities we look for when we purchase an eyeliner, yes? I definitely want an eyeliner that can last me the entire day without making me look like a rock star gone wrong!

My eye makeup above made use of K Palette's Real Lasting Eyeliner with the improved formula. I drew this on in the morning before I head out and took these pictures at the end of the long day out. As you can see, by the time I got home, it still looked as intense as ever; no smudging either! I do have to say that I don't have the tendency to rub my eyes though. I tried running my hand under the water after using the eyeliner to draw on my hand, showing that it held up to the waterproof claim well.

Looking at the magnified picture, you can see that there is no faltering of the eyeliner into the unsightly "network" on my skin. One of the most important thing for me when it comes to buying eyeliners is to check if it will falter; if it does, it will probably make a mess on your eyes and have little tiny streaks around the area you lined your eyes and can end up making your eye makeup look messy. Also, the formula dries fast, which I believe is one of the reasons why it does not falter as well - there is simply no time for it to wander about.

The brush is very fine - gentle on my eyes, smooth and thus very easy to manoeuvre around my eyes. When it comes to removing the make up, it was indeed a breeze;  pressed my oil based make up remover on my eyes for about 5 seconds and one swipe did the job.

I do highly recommend everyone to give this eyeliner a try as it really performed very well for me. I always used gel liner when I want to do a more intense and longer lasting eye make up but I guess I've found an alternative now - much quicker in application too! I will rate this product a 9/10 as it performed well up to claims and expectations! Best of all, the price is very economical! We know how Japanese products tend to have their prices marked up a lot when the are being exported, right? K Palette still keeps their prices low, almost the same price as when you purchase in Japan! [I think the price in Japan is around $19~$20!]

The new improved formula will hit the stores this March, go grab a box and try it for yourself!

Don't forget to "like" K Palette's Facebook page for their latest promotions and updates!

「ただ食べ物の為に」Just For Food : Tsujiri Review
Hello :3
I am doing my second food post for this year [I really hope to do this more often!] and it is on Japanese food again!

Looking at this picture, do you have an idea of what the place focuses on?

Seriously, I'm so addicted to Japanese food. I think my food reviews will focus mainly on Japanese food! [Yes, I just decided this while I am typing this]
I have so many places to share with you guys so I shall just start with my absolute "cannot live without" first!

Always digressing - this terrible habit of mine has to stop!
Today I will be introducing to you guys my favourite Matcha/ Maccha place in Singapore:

Singaporeans (or rather, Singapore residents), you are so lucky to have Tsujiri on our sunny island! There are only 2 countries outside of Japan that has Tsujiri branches, one being Taiwan and the other is, obviously, Singapore.

I have never been a fan of green tea but when I first tried this, my impression towards green tea completely changed - I was converted.

Tsujiri hails from Kyoto, the "land of matcha", so to say. When I was in Kyoto, I had the chance to have all types of matcha in all the the different forms (I meant how Matcha is used in Wagashi that Kyoto is famous for.)
No amount of Matcha I had will make me feel "Ahh, I think I had enough that I will not eat this for some time" at all! No amount of Matcha was too much, I just cannot get enough! I will not talk about the History of Tsujiri because those information can all be found in English on the Singapore website so I will just be copying information and I shall not insult you readers like that.

Tsujiri opened its first shop here in Singapore in 100AM. Such a great place for me as I teach tuition around there so I have the tendency to head over before or after for my perk me up! Despite being there so many times already [ I believe I've been there close to 10 times soon], I always order the one thing,

Tsujiri Shaved Ice [O-maccha] / 都路里氷(お抹茶)- SGD $7.80

This was the first thing I tried on the menu and I always go back to it because it's such a safe choice for me - I love it and I am never sick of it because it is a "satisfaction guaranteed" item for me.

Don't be turned off by the shaved ice - this is not the type where they just use ice made from drinking water and just drizzle syrup over. Well, I can't be 100% sure about this but from my many visits there, I do believe the ice that they use to make the shaved ice itself is probably made from a block of frozen o-matcha.

The ingredients in this item includes [Anti-clockwise from top]:
Sweetened Kuri [Chesnut], Azuki Bean Paste [Red Bean Paste], O-maccha Ice, O-maccha Soft Cream, Shiratama [Sweet Rice Flour Dumpling].

As you can see from the above picture, this is made with a layer of o-maccha ice, followed by o-maccha soft cream, then another layer of o-maccha ice, o-maccha soft cream again and finally topped with sweetened chestnut, azuki bean paste and shiratama dango.

The maccha taste sweet but not so sweet that the maccha taste is being overshadowed. Having eaten from Tsujiri in Kyoto too, I find that the maccha here in Singapore is sweeter, most likely made so to cater to the palates of locals here. In Kyoto, the maccha taste is actually stronger and you can taste slight bitterness.

I really love the Kuri! I have always loved the way Japanese make their Kuri in their Wagashi [Japanese confectionery] and so I make sure to save my Kuri for the last!

The Azuki bean paste did not taste too sweet and I believe it is probably because the O-maccha is already fairly sweet so the Azuki bean paste does not stand out that much in terms of sweetness.

The Shiratama dango is chewy and has the mild sweetness [the dango flour sweetness] that a dango should have.

I've tried a few other maccha parfait/ soft cream in Singapore first so I can make a comparison and I always find myself going back to Tsujiri at the end of the day.

I will give this a 9.25/10 and definitely the best maccha I have had so far in Singapore and the price is actually not considered expensive [in terms of Japanese dessert pricing]. I paid a much higher price for the one I had in Kyoto and the serving size was about the same as Singapore! If not for the fact that the shop is pretty small and can be hard to secure a place to sit and enjoy, I would have given it a 9.5 instead.

If you are a maccha addict, they do sell tools essential for you to make your own maccha [the chawan / tea bowl and chasen / tea whisk] and of course, maccha powder [30g for SGD $22, 100g for SGD $60]. If you are not big on making your own matcha and prefer the convenience of tea bags, they have Sencha, Genmaicha, Houjicha [SGD $15/bag of 10 tea bags.] I loved the Houjicha I drank from Tsujiri in Kyoto but have yet to try it in Singapore yet. I will definitely try it and let you know guys know!

I'm sorry I can only share an item here with you but I'm pretty much a "cold dessert" person and this was the only item that enticed me on the menu, even after so long. My friend [Karmun, my travelmate for January's trip to Japan] love their Parfait though so you guys can give that a try too! I always order Shaved Ice while she always orders Parfait - we are people who stick to what we like and can keep eating the same thing without getting sick!

I highly recommend this to everyone, even if you are not a Maccha fan - you might be converted after this like me (:

[Sponsored] Glomax Aesthetics Intensive Acne Medic Treatment 5
Hi guys!

Sorry for not updating you about my Glomax Aesthetics progress ):
Been terribly busy with god knows what.
[Okay fine, I've been busy with school, revision, work, and just stressed out about a lot of personal stuff that put me in a slump and no mood to even on my laptop]

Just to recap:

My fifth trip was on 30th January, 5 days after I returned from Japan.
This time, I was given a slightly different procedure during my treatment. Due to my trip to Japan, I've been out under the sun more than usual since I did a lot of sightseeing in Japan. I did put on sunblock every time before I leave my hotel but my therapist Pik San wanted to be on the safe side so she suggested a few tweaks to my usual routine.

Usually, what happens during my facial is:
1. Sonic cleansing that gently lifts impurities and dirt off skin surface
2. Squeezing the dirt out from my skin
3. Problem areas are healed with a mild antiseptic high frequency
4. Acne IPL to rebalance the sebum level.
5. Mask [depending on skin condition, different mask will be applied.]

This time, steps 3 and 4 were replaced with vitamin penetration instead.
Vitamins help to whiten and brighten the skin, giving radiance and lighten marks.
Besides vitamin, green tea is also present, which helps in soothing the skin and have anti oxidant & anti inflammation properties.
As for the mask that day, Pik San applied the Charcoal mask for me. Charcoal mask has many functions like:
1. Purifying Skin
2. Anti Inflammation
3. Soothing
4. Skin Calming
5. Whitening
6. Stablizing Skin

As you can see, the changes to my facial procedure was all done to "heal" my skin because I was complaining to Pik San about how the weather in Japan made my skin all crazy and bumpy. Therefore, she decided to give me a slightly less intensive treatment for my skin to adapt and heal better.

I didn't take pictures right after my treatment because I think you guys already have a good idea of how it looks like [every time, it's the same...] so I believed that giving you a picture of how my skin look like at least a week later is better as it can show you how long the effects can last.

These pictures below were taken on the 6th February 2013

As you can see, my skin is not bumpy anymore, just the scars/ marks from my acne and my nose is totally clear even after 1 week from extraction of the blackheads! [I hate my nose; the blackheads are so persistent and no matter what I used, it never ever improves!]

These pictures were taken on the 10th of February 2013
Left Cheek

Right Cheek

Nose

Below my nose and chin [I tend to have a lot of breakouts at these areas nowadays and as you can see from the above picture, it is completely clear]

If you look at pictures from my first treatment, you can really see that my skin improved a lot, especially my left cheek and the condition remained well even until now.

I am going for my sixth treatment on 6th March 2013, will update you girls about 1 - 2 weeks after my treatment with my progress!

As always, highly recommend you to book an appointment with Glomax Aesthetics! [My therapist is Pik San, sorry I got her name wrong previously!]

Finally, a new Vlog with Tsuriki on binbobimbo channel.
So,

I haven't posted in a while...

If you haven't already seen it, go watch.

The first part of the subtitles are correct.
The moment you see weird stuff, that's the "auto translation/ voice detect" function on youtube which, obviously, suck.
They are mostly subbed by Tsuriki so far because I've been very busy with school.
Hopefully the back part of the video will be up soon too.

I know we are very unglam, but that's how we always are. There are a lot of blank moments but trust me, we had already edited out A LOT - there was even a portion that we just stared blankly into space for about 30 seconds without realising it. I guess we are so used to doing our own things and being lost in our own world that we don't realise we have a lot of those moments. Well, it's unscripted and unplanned, we just shoot our mouths with whatever that comes to our heads first.

I saw that I tend to move nearer to the camera unknowingly, probably because I can't see very well [the screen] and I have the tendency to look at the flip screen just to check if we look okay, that's why you will see me moving backwards every now and then whenever I realised I am getting too close to the camera.

I also realised that I like to make weird noises and ad-lib -_-
[Yes, that second yokoso was from me because I kinda forgot what we were supposed to say for intro, I think I almost killed Tsuriki cos it was just such a short line to remember and I kept forgetting!]
I also realised that I only do this when I make a video with Tsuriki...
I am usually very normal on my own videos! [Okay, I say a lot of "erms" but I'm trying to work on that!]

Oh yes, I've never went for any Japanese classes, so my Japanese are all self learnt, mostly from watching Anime and drama [which, by the way, is quite seldom too... watch the video and you will know why I don't really watch anime]. Therefore, I don't really speak well; I can understand much better than I can speak. So just a disclaimer in case you want to bash me about my limited vocab. I tend to be VERY forgetful and since this video is totally impromptu [we didn't even plan to do it in Japanese... you can see from the start of the video we mentioned it's hard to do a video in Japanese and wanted to switch back to English but somehow we ended up speaking Japanese all the way till the end -_-], I kept stumbling on my speech and many "cat got my tongue" moments.
Tsuriki only studied till she completed the Beginner level I think?
So yes, disclaimer in case you want to bash us, think again first!!
