Cooking with Aki & Himeko Episode 02 - Udon
Yes!
Another cooking session ^^
This time, we decided to get proper utensils for presentation.

It's really easy to prepare Udon~
These are all the things you need:

Oh, Ice cream is for our dessert!

Sidetrack: Ice cream addicts

You need Udon~

Naruto Maki

We didn't make our own dashi this time because we got the ready ones.

We didn't get Unari this time but usually when I cook by myself, I will add Unari. I LOVE the taste of Unari! In case you've forgotten, this is how Inari looks like:

Egg!

We hard boiled the egg and then I used my heart mould to make it into...

CUTE RIGHT! [Accident while chopping the egg ): ]

We had some tempura left over from last session so we decided to add into the udon!

Yums

You will need a little bit of spring onions for garnish. [Optional]

Defrost the Naruto and chop it up!

Naruto is also for presentation purpose so you don't have to use too much.

Cook the Udon alone FIRST to get rid of the sour taste. If you cook it in with your soup stock, you will end up with sour tasting soup!

Now for the soup~ Boil some water.

Get the Dashi Stock and throw a pack in!

Then, VIOLA

Simple and easy to prepare meal! [Quite healthy too, if you minus the tempura and change to Inari instead!]

Oh yes, you need a piece of seaweed too but that's also mainly for garnish purpose. This meal probably only need about 15 ~ 20 minutes to prepare!

Alright, any ideas what should we cook next?
Leave me a comment!

[Event] K-Palette Makeover Session with Japanese Makeup Artiste Miko Yatsu
K palette, a brand that is no stranger to most girls.
During the 2nd week of September, they held a makeover session by Japanese Makeup Artiste Miko Yatsu [K Palette especially flew her down to Singapore!] for free at SaSa NEX!

I was a little late because I've never been shopping at NEX so I don't know where the stores are [I can't even find the directory] but by the time I arrived, look at the crowd they attracted!

Sidetrack, look at some of their popular products!

I have most of them from last year's K Palette event that I blogged about HERE

Picture above from last year's goodies' bag by K-Palette. MEGA generous right?

Anyway, back to present.
Miko San busy with her makeup kit! [So... mega... pretty...]

Her secret weapons all from K Palette.

While getting the makeover done, tips were given too!

I shall share with you some pictures of Miko san while working her magic!

Some of my favourite products from K Palette will have to be their Eyeliner [I'm using the Super Black one now] Super love, looking for an Eyeliner to stay whole day? Try this!

One of their newer eyeliner for the series is the one in blue packaging.
Super sharp brush! This is very good for drawing designs and filing in gaps.

Oh yes, their best selling Super Black Water Proof eyeliner also comes in a limited edition PINK packaging!

Another favourite from K Palette is their Lasting 2 way Eyebrow! [Extreme left in picture below]

This is their latest product; 1 Day Lash Perm Mascara
This product can lengthen and keep your lashes curled! [Detailed review will be given again in another entry dedicated to it]

Of course, I have to take a picture with them before I leave!

Thanks to SaSa SG & K-Palette SG for these products:
1 Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner 24H Waterproof.
Tip: To check if the brush of your eyeliner is really good, press it flat down on the back of your hand. If the bristles split, the quality of the brush is not very good!

1 Day Lash Perm Long Curl Mascara
I'm quite excited to try this! Haven't been using falsies and using a lot of mascara now!

K-Palette Kuma Concealer

I hear quite a number of good reviews on this product when it was just launched. I've been meaning to grab a tube to try so I'm extremely psyched to find this in the goodies' bag!

Finally, thanks to SaSa SG for inviting me to the makeover and all the very friendly staff!
I will do a review for these products soon and let you guys know how it works for me!

Do check out SaSa SG Facebook Page [They always have contest to giveaway awesome products] and K-Palette Facebook Page for their latest promotions and news!

[Sponsored] ChocoGoji, Chocolate covered Wolfberries
It's chillaxing time with your bed. I'm not sure about you guys but for me, it is almost always accompanied with the need to munch.

Not news to many, I'm a chocolate addict. I have to eat some chocolates everyday. I prefer dark chocolate because of the richer taste and it is healthier too! Don't lecture me about the sugar, I hardly take very sweet/ salty food other than those in snacks [and I've cut down on snacking - ALOT]

So, here I am, introducing this all new product in our market.
ChocoGoji [with a sweet note from Elfaine!]

Goji berries is actually what many know as Wolfberries or in Chinese, 枸杞子.
A lot of Chinese soup recipes make use of Goji berries as they can "sweeten" the soup and have great nutritional benefits like being rich in Vitamin C [50 times that of the Vitamin C found in Oranges] and Anti Oxidants [15 times that of the Anti Oxidants found in Cranberries]
Personally, I love to eat Goji berries in the soup because of the many tiny little seeds inside!

There are 3 different choices for this interesting combination of Chocolate and Goji berries:

Dark Chocolate [My favourite!]

Milk Chocolate

Sugar Free [There, no "too sweet/ high sugar content excuses anymore]

I was really anticipating how they will taste like [trust me, I was so so SO close to ripping a pack off to eat them but I kept that urge in me because of the need to take photos]

As I've mentioned above, I love dark chocolates so it's no surprise that the dark chocolate one is my favourite of the 3.

^ It has a slight sweet taste [it's dark chocolate afterall] and I think some of the bitterness was masked by the taste of the wolfberry inside. Suprisingly, the wolfberry tasted close to raisins!

The sugar free one tasted similar to the dark chocolate, except less sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, I doubt you will like this as the sweetness is really very mild. This is my second favourite; though I like the small difference of calories between dark chocolate and sugar free, I still like my chocolate a little sweet.

Finally, the milk chocolate one! I will be lying if I said I didn't love it. Sure, I do enjoy the occasional sugar rush but my expanding face and waistline is battling with my mind so I am more conscious about what I eat lately. I'm pretty sure most people will prefer this to the other 2 but for now, this will be the 3rd choice for me!

You can purchase a pack of 60g from:

  • OG Departmental Store
  • Yue Hwa Chinese Products Pte Ltd
  • Four Seasons Gourmet Market ( Marina Bay Link Mall )
  • NTUC
  • Cheers Convenience stores
  • Cold Storage
  • Buzz – Selective outlets
  • SPC – Choices

Definitely recommend people to give this a shot, especially those who love chocolate covered raisins!

You can redeem a free pack from ChocoGoji Facebook Page.

Enjoy your chocolates and stay pretty!

[Sponsored] Vaseline Healthy White UV Lightening Even Tone Lotion
As promised, another quick and easy on the eyes review!
Yes, once again, not picture heavy and reason was mentioned in the previous post.

Firstly, I have to say, I never ever use body products. Okay, let me rephrase that - I never use anything else on my body besides shower gel. I am only disciplined when it comes to my face; anywhere else it's a "oh well, people can't see anyway] thing. However, lately I realised that the difference in the skin tone of different parts of my body is ridiculous. The skin tone of my face and hands is pretty close but my legs are at least 4 - 5 shades darker than my hands. It's quite ridiculous when I put my hands next to my legs for comparison. Reason that this developed is because I like to wear shorts but don't like to get tan so I tend to wear long sleeves/ jackets to cover my hands and I apply sunblock on my face. Well, that leaves my legs completely unprotected! Therefore, this product cannot be more apt for me.

Vaseline Healthy White UV Lightening Even Tone Lotion

This product claims to:
  • Lightens your dark skin areas to keep skin even toned.
  • Vitamin B3 helps your skin achieve radiance at its healthiest condition
  • Triple Sunscreens help prevent further darkening caused by the sun
  • Yoghurt Serum provides moisturization and nourishment to your skin

After using it for 5 days straight, here's my verdict:

You may think that 5 days probably won't make a difference [I was also quite skeptical] but it actually did! I'm not sure if it's because the difference in my skin tone is just that huge because after 5 days, I actually do see visible lightening. Do note that this product lightens, not so much of whiten. I do realise a lot of girls tend to mix up this two properties. Most products serve to lighten your skin tone to what your skin might had been in the past but to whiten it past that is pretty hard just by using products alone. Digressing - anyhow, I do observe slight lightening but bear in mind that I've only used it for 5 days [twice a day as indicated by the directions on the bottle]. This product is also moisturizing and has light scent - once again, people who don't like scented products may want to stay clear from this. Oh yes, the formulation of the product makes it easy to apply and it feels lightweight on my skin. I will do my best to keep up this regime and hopefully my skin tone can become more even! This product retails at only SGD $6.95 for a generous 240mL bottle so I will definitely recommend you to try it as it is so economical! Besides, Vaseline is a pretty well established brand so you definitely have nothing to lose in this deal. I will rate this product a 7.5/10 as I've only used it for 5 days so far and probably will have to use it for a longer span of time to re-evaluate my rating.

[Sponsored] Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalizing Pink Grapefruit Ultra Foam Cleanser
Hi my loves!
I contemplated if I should post my photos up but I shall wait till I'm done with my string of reviews first!

Today I will be talking about the Neutrogena Deep Clean Revitalizing in Pink Grapefruit!

I did not take much pictures [you know, my usual camwhore with product picture] as I wasn't feeling quite well the past week so I am not exactly in the camwhoring mood. In fact, I look very haggard due to the returning insomnia problem.

Without further ado, I shall dive straight into the review!

Off the back of the bottle, this product claims to:
  • Effectively remove up to 99% of oil, dirt and impurities
  • Contains pink grapefruit, helps eliminate dead skin cells for younger-looking and healthy skin
  • Oil-Free, Alcohol-Free and Non-Comedogenic.

After using it for 5 days straight, here's my verdict:

The smell is quite pleasant for me; that being said, people who hate scented products might want to steer away from this. I have no problem with scented products if they are pleasing to me, which in this case, it is. Cleansing wise, I do feel that it lives up to its claims - I feel that my skin is clean after use and yet not stripped of moisture. However, for obvious reasons, I am not able to verify for you if my skin is really at least 99% clean. Still, it does a good job in my opinion. Oh yes, this bottle has a pump which pumps the product out in the form of foam and we all know that foam wash is able to penetrate deeper into our epidermis and give a more thorough cleaning! The price of SGD $17.60/ 175mL might seem pricey as compared to other drugstore foam cleansers but hey, I used it for 5 days and the volume barely reduced so a 175mL bottle can last you pretty long. I will rate this a 8/10 since it does all that it claims to but took points off for the price since I do understand that price can be one huge factor in deciding what products they want to purchase. I do recommend people who like foam cleansers [for the obvious reason that foam cleans our pores better] to buy this and well, it's pink and pretty too!

A quick and straightforward review for you (:
I have another review coming up tomorrow too!

[Sponsored] Natio Travel Size Products
Firstly, thanks SaSa Singapore for sending me these amazing products.
So sorry I took so long to review these!
Finally, I got a chance to bring them along when I went over to Malaysia in September.

Oh yes, all these products are Made in Australia!

Natio Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser - 7/10 :
I pretty much liked the smell of this cleanser and it did not dry my skin out after use. It does do a pretty decent job in cleansing my face and did not cause any bad reaction to my skin.

Natio Intensive Moisturising Day Cream - 9.5/10 :
This product is AMAZING, no kidding! I was quite freaked out when my skin was peeling due to some product changes and medication on the first day of my trip [I planned to take lotsa photos during my trip and the whole skin thing will really make editing pictures a big headache] and so I applied this during the first night and I was amazed the next day how much my skin improved! The peeling completely stopped; something which usually requires at least 2 days to see an improvement with other moisturising skincare products that I have.

Natio Paw Paw Lip Balm - 8/10 :
This lip balm is very moisturising - I applied this at night before I slept and I woke up with soft lips [I slept for about 7 or 8 hours]!  I applied it during the day and it lasted for a slightly shorter duration - 5 hours. Also, this tube actually packs a lot of product. I still use this every night even after I got back.

Natio Spa Organics Body Cleanser:
I'm not giving a rating for this because I'm not quite sure how to rate body wash? It cleans well and I really love the smell! I finished up the whole tube during my trip!

Natio Spa Organics Heavenly Hand Cream:
I've never used hand creams because I don't have the problem of dry hands but since I'm bringing the whole range of the travel sized products, I thought I will just give it a try. My skin does feel softer and slightly smoother after applying it for 4 days during the trip there [yes, I've stopped after I got back to Singapore because I am just that lazy] and I can't say this enough, I really love the smell from this range!

There you have it, a quick overview of all the products [I've used them over the 4 days in Malaysia] and I will definitely bring the products with me when I travel again, especially the hand cream since I will be going to Japan next January and it will be during Winter so I definitely need that.
