It's not exactly an event, but I had to categorize it somewhere so there you go.
It's going to be brief with pictures everywhere [I love it when there's no obligations]
Anyhow, TTJ invited me to go with her for this session with Red Ken at their office [somewhere around Lavender]
We were extremely late, but just before they started ^^;;
We missed food because we were late ):
For this session, they actually have the Jorge Joao, the Lead Stylist for Red Ken from the World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto with us!
Jorge actually has his own hair studio back in Toronto! [If my memory did not fail me, it's called Koi Hair Studio]
He first shared with us his experience during the Toronto Fashion Week.
I was very entertained by his stories~ things they do to the model, haha!
In this session, I learnt quite a few stuff about hair care from Jorge.
For example when you curl your hair...
Do you curl it towards or away from your face?
You should curl it away from your face!
Also, we were taught how to create a simple look under 5 minutes [note: this look is actually used by a lot of stylist when creating looks for the runway]
Firstly, when you tie your simple ponytail, always look up instead of down.
This is because when you face down, when you are back in the normal upright position, there will be this "bump" at the bottom.
So remember, UP is the right way to go!
After you are done with the pony tail,
Conceal the rubber band with your hair and a bobby pin.
Now, tease/ backcomb your pony tail!
Tease a little, then secure parts of your hair with a bobby pin.
Repeat the pinning...
Until all the hair is up!
^ This gives texture to your hair. The contrast between the simple and neat look from the front and the spiced up texture at the pony tail itself is what that brings out this hairdo. All done in just 5 minutes!
Also, we all know how braids is in trend now, yes?
but what happens if you are bad at braiding?
Our head stylist here HATES braids, which caused him to come up with a way of "braiding" that is easy to do.
Firstly, take a section of your hair,
Split that into 2
You know how you tie knots? Yes, do that to your hair.
No, it's not painful, I tried it. Just keep repeating the step above by picking up a new section of hair from whichever direction you want your "braid" to go.
And then, Viola!
Can you see? It's so pretty and easy to do! [Come on, you all know how to tie knots, right?]
From the front
Another notable mention from this session is their new chromatic dye that contains zero ammonia.
Look at the wide variety of colors available!
Oh yes, at the end of the session, we were given a goodies' bag.
Inside there were:
Fashion Work 12 hairspray
Look at how huge the bottle is! It says that it has humidity resistance, looking forward to see how it will perform on me since Singapore is fairly humid.
Powder Refresh 01 [what some of you might call "dry shampoo"]
I have used this and I got to say, I LOVE IT!
I used to wash my hair everyday but now that my hair is getting way too long, it takes up to 2 hours for it to dry naturally so it's kind of a hassle. On days I skip washing my hair, I will use this; it makes my hair baby smooth!
I don't know how but it does! Also, no white residue left on your hair and it absorbs oil, making your hair look fresh.
I raised a question on volumizing hair and they gave me this
Body full instant bodifer
^ Always annoys me because my hair is extremely fine. I learnt a few tips to volumize my hair during the session too, can't wait to try them with this and see what difference it will make.
Last but not least, there's a Rough Clay 20.
I have not tried this product since I don't use clay or things like wax...
I'm thinking of letting my brother try and see how it works.
Overall, it was a very fun and somewhat educational session for me. I definitely learnt a bit more about hair and haircare.
Oh, all the above products are from RedKen.
If you are interested in any, do pop by any salon that carries RedKen product and ask them about it/ for reccomendations!
[I'm sorry but I do not know the prices of all the products]
Last Saturday morning, headed down to Elfaine's office at Kaki Bukit for a video shoot.
Miss this girl SO MUCH.
^ She kept trying to move further away from the camera when she already was!
Y U NO stop making my head look big?!
Order Mcdonnies breakfast ^^
We were there pretty early, but only started recording like... 2 hours later?
Tsuriki & I were REALLY hungry so we couldn't think.
We took a vlog too but I have to retrieve our channel password before I can upload it... Sorry!
Anyhow, after a filling breakfast, we goofed around a little before taking the video.
Warning: They might be harmful to your eyes and you might never look at us the same way again.
^ I call this the "something is wrong with my mouth-eyes-nose" shot.
Why were we all facing that direction?
^ Cannot stop laughing at this; Elfaine looked constipated, HEEHEE.
Seriously, Elfaine made the funniest faces!
Mine was just plain ugly.
^ I feel like a "xiaolongbao" and they are posting a "before we eat you" shot.
Funny how we all had peace signs~ All the shots we took were not "discussed" beforehand and we were on timer so the camera just "snap. snap, snap" and we "pose, pose, pose."
Elfaine looked too happy.
Okay, some shots to redeem ourselves
Big heads!
Okay, last one!
Elfaine goofed around with my camera
After the video shoot, I headed down to Bugis to meet Karmun!
We wanted to go take a look at the Lowry's Farm thingy but... didn't really turn out to be what I expected so we decided to skip it.
Loitered and shopped around~ I went to MOF for the first time!
Happy~
Waiting for our orders to be served
Her Macha Sundae, super nice!
I ordered Azuki Float
My one and only picture with my beverage that turned out okay was the one with flash, ding it!
Pretty much a slack day with my favourite people (:
Okay, it has been some time since I last talked about Kpop, mainly because it is getting too "mainstream" here in Singapore.
I first got into the whole "Kpop" thing back in 2007 when I first saw an episode of the "Banjun theatre" starring all 5 members of DBSK. [No, Changmin and Yunho will never be DBSK!] I've always been more interested in Jpop and Japanese guys but when I saw how dashing the guys looked, I was immediately swooned [Yes, superficial & I know it!]
Anyhow, thus began my obsession with Koreans and I started to pay attention to a few other Korean groups like SS501, Super Junior, Epic High.
I remembered some time during Christmas in 2008, I came across a girl group singing this song and I thought, "Hey, that song is pretty adorable and catchy!"
Some of you may be familiar with the song but for those who aren't, that song is "Pretty Girl" by Kara.
Sure, the English in the song definitely can do better but hey, I was going for the catchy rhythm back then and admit it, it is catchy!
That was when I started paying attention to Kara, who quickly became a favourite in my list of girl groups I love.
I first thought that these 2 members were really lovable; Jung Nicole & Park Gyuri.
Park Gyuri, also the leader of Kara, is just so pretty!
Many host in variety shows always refer her to having beauty parallel to a "goddess" and I absolutely agree.
Jung Nicole? Gosh, I just LOVE that girl!
She was involved in one of the sections in "Star Golden Bell" [one of my favourite variety show too!] called "Level with me," where she had to describe a given word to the guest for them to guess.
^ Just look at how adorable she was! I like how creative she was, splitting up some words in the cutest ways to explain. [I really meant it when I say she split the words up; she even dissects the korean character by itself]
I thought she was really amazing; when she landed the gig on the show, she had only learnt Korean for like, 2 years? Yet she was so good!
Kara won their first multizen on M Countdown with "Honey", followed by on SBS Inkigayo.
This song is still one of my favourite even till today; the sweet catchy tune, that concept totally worked for them! They found much success in the above mentioned song which made them one of the "top" girl groups in Korea.
After Honey, they had many other hits like:
Wanna
Mister [The famous butt dance!]
Lupin [Where they won their first Multizen on Music Bank]
After concluding promotions for Lupin, they advanced to Japan and got smashing success with their first Japanese Single, Mister.
With their debut and success in Japan in 2010, they were named the #1 Rookie Artist by Oricon!
Fast forward, Kara sold over 450,000 copies of their latest Japanese album, Super Girl.
Okay, so why am I talking about Kara out of the blue?
That's because the group will be in Singapore for the KARA Showcase 2012, on 10 July, at Resort World Sentosa and will hold one autograph session in the official mall during this visit, to promote the launch of their new fragrance.
Best part is... I have a pair of tickets to their showcase!
I cannot tell you how excited I am to be invited to their showcase!
On top of that, I have never been to Resort World Sentosa before ^^
[No, not even the Universal Studio. I never felt like going since I'm going Japan next year, intend to visit Universal Studio in Osaka]
KARA is also the first Korean artiste to have their own premium fragrance line.
Incidentally, this fragrance will be launched at Metro stores.
Honestly, I am really curious about it!
Kara will be having a Meet & Greet session with the first 80 fans with their Showcase Ticket!

A little about Causeway Point:

The mall is undergoing its last phase of upgrading works, welcoming a brand new look and a host of new stores to its mix.
Anchor tenants are Cathay Cineplexes, Cold Storage, Courts, Food Republic, Kiddy Palace, Metro, POPULAR Bookstore and Uniqlo.
The wide range of stores available are suitable for adults, teenagers and children!

Today I will be sharing with you an event I attended 2 Saturdays ago~
That's right, the Heroine Make Princess Ball!
Upon arrival, there was a table full of charms and a form to fill in our "before" eye measurements. A lovely lady was there to help us take the measurements and issue the bracelets.
And here we are!
^ I have to apologise for being terribly late. I was waiting for my bimbo partner Tsuriki T.T
Nonetheless, thank god they were very nice and wasn't angry with us ^^
Look at the amount of products on our table, all from Heroine Make!
So what was the event about?
Well, it was to find the princess with the biggest difference in the size of the eye before & after eye makeup!
So clearly, I went there with no eye makeup but unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture... [I was still too angry about my lost phone back then, I didn't even want to step out of me house]
Anyhow, here's my personalized bracelet!
Pretty pretty~
So what's in the heart shaped box that the bracelet is sitting on?
Tada~
Pretty cupcake with marshmallows ^^
Anyhow, after their quick presentation on their products [mainly on the eye related products since that's kinda like the theme for the day], we were given ample time to doll our eyes up!
Notable mention: Though this event focuses on the eyes, I have to say I really liked how their Heroine Make BB Cream went on my face! Blends very easily and gives a pretty good coverage. Also, I actually own their pressed face powder too!
Anyhow, of all the eye products I played with, I have to give a huge hueg shout out to this:
I'm telling you, this Impact mascara is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
I have pathetic naked looking eyes [i.e light and sparse eyelashes] and this mascara really lengthened and volumized my lashes! Also, the mascara colour is darker than any other mascara I've used!
Upon the first application, I was lost for words - literally! I told Tsuriki in a super amazed tone and when she saw what the mascara did to my bottom lashes, she returned me with a "WAH!"
That's how amazing it is!
I'm sorry the camera didn't capture well T.T
Seriously, half my mind was still pre-occupied at that event so I don't really know what am I doing... [Insert remorseful expression here]
But I can definitely see myself buy the impact mascara in the near future!
With Tiphanie
I like how their packaging is simple with little details like the design on the wand of their mascara
They are so smart to do that because girls do pay attention to intricate things like such!
After all the princesses were done with their eye make up, everyone went to take the eye measurements again~
Guess who emerged as the winner with the biggest difference in the size of eyes?
^ My bimbo Tsuriki, yay!
So happy for her~
After the event, each of the princesses was given a goodies' bag with the following:
Eyeliner [I used this for my eyes]
Ultra fine tip!
Lengthening Mascara
Tiphanie was raving about this mascara as well as the volumizing one throughout the event so I'm pretty psyched about it too!
Mascara remover
This is pretty good to remove stubborn mascara formulas; no more tugging your eyelashes!
Last but no least, a Chupa Chups x Kiss Me Lip Cream
Have yet to try this though.
Overall, I enjoyed myself during the event because:
1. The presentation given was clear, quick and right to the point.
2. I got to meet up with my favourite girls
3. I got to play with eye make up products
4. Event was pretty much "free & easy", no one was rushing us to do this/ that or anything at all!
At the end of the event, I left with a much better understanding and impression of the brand Heroine Make and their products.
If there's a MUST HAVE item from the event, it is definitely this:
Scent: 2.5/10 - There wasn't any prominent scent. I could be wrong since I'm having blocked nose...
Packaging: 8.5/10 - Purple, yay! I really like how Love More packaging is always so princess-y.
Brightening: 8.5/10 - Once again, love more did not fail me. I really appreciate products that do what it says, especially when it comes to brightening.
Moisturizing : 8.5/10 - Thumbs up again! Moisturizing aspect performed splendidly too.
Lifting : 8/10 - Being a 3D mask, I'm sure we all expect it to make a difference. However, do not expect miracles from it; use it regularly, I'm positive your face and maintain the "V" shape to a certain extent but really change the way your face is, no.
Essence Absorbency : 8.5/10 - Skin felt supple as removal of mask; stayed that way for a good 6-7 hours.
Availability: 8/10 - It is available in Watsons and you can get it online from their webstore too. Convenient for both an offline or online shopper.
Price: 8.5/10 - I am not too sure about the price in Watsons but it is sold at a discounted price of SGD $8.90/box of 5 pieces. Did I just hear someone hoarding mask already?
Repurchase: Yes. Love More and Sexy Look are on par when it comes to 3D mask for me.
Fret not, Metholatum is here to save the day with their Ultra Protection Sunblock: SPF 130 PA+++ Sunplay Super Block!
That's right, you heard me. A whooping SPF 130 PA+++, now fear the sun rays no more.
Mentholatum's New Solarex-3 technology provides a unique UV defense system. Notable mentions:
1. Provides superior photo stable protection against UVA & UVB
2. RonaCare Ectoin & Antileukine 3, two anti-aging ingredients help reduce fine lines & wrinkles [YAY!]
3. Hyaluronic Acid effectively hydrates and locks-in moisture on skin.
Seeing how it helps reduce fine lines & wrinkles as well as provide hydration, I see makeup base potential in there.
Shake well before dispensing!
Here's how the sunblock look when dispensed onto my hand.
100% non edited, not even lighting.
Spread evenly~
The "watery Liquid" formulation is ultra light, non greasy and smooth on skin!
Tada~ No weird white residue left after spreading.
Also, note that this Sunblock is Water & sweat proof, so you can throw all the worries away and jump into the sea for your water activities!
Oh yes, it is also non-comedogenic [does not clog pores] and free from colorants [Low irritation]
My thoughts: I like how light the formula is. First thing that came to my mind was the concern about the texture of the sunblock, given that the SPF is the highest I've seen in the market. Thankfully, it was able to get absorbed quickly and not heavy at all. I will definitely recommend this if you are someone who is out under the sun a lot or will be having a day of activities under the sun. Ladies wearing makeup, if you are using this and will be heading into the water WITH your makeup, make sure you apply this BEFORE your makeup and that your makeup is also waterproof! From the pictures above, you can see that I am VERY lazy when it comes to applying sunblock, that's why my face, arms and legs are in a variety of shade.... My legs are practically 5 shades or more darker than my face! Anyhow, I've been religiously using this whenever I head out on my legs these days; non greasy formula definitely a plus point since I'm always in shorts and thus my legs will be against chairs and such, definitely don't want to leave behind a greasy mark.
Here's a chance for you to win this sunblock from me!
All you have to do is tell me...
Why do you need this sunblock?
[I'm not really looking for a comment that will knock me off my chair, I just want to know why you want it! It can be because you don't have a sunblock, your old tube is running out, you need something for protection when you are under the sun... any thing at all!]
Leave a comment at my Facebook Page & Share the image~ it's that simple!
Winner will be selected on the 13th of June and I will be posting it out via Normal Mail.
Good luck everyone!
[For international readers, unless you are willing to pay for the shipping, please do not enter! Shipping here in Singapore is quite a bitch, so I can't provide free shipping if you win!
For Singapore readers, I will be paying for the normal mail so you don't have to pay at all.]
Scent: 2.5/10 - I did not smell anything but then again, I'm having blocked nose so...
Packaging: 8/10 - I'm not sure if the black packaging actually "scared" some potential buyers away but from my past experience, "black" looking stuff always seem to do awesome stuff to your skin when it comes to skincare so it actually piqued my interest when I first set my eyes on the product.
Diminishing Fine Lines: 6/10 - Very subtle. I'm not too sure if long term usage will be able to cause a prolonged and accumulated effect in this aspect though.
Moisturizing : 9/10 - Absolutely. I really like the feeling of seeing my face "fuller" after mask-ing!
Lifting : 8/10 - Right after use, I do see a slight lifting effect. However, please bear in mind that this is a mask after all, so don't expect it to be a miracle fix.
Essence Absorbency : 8.5/10 - Fantastic. My skin happily soaked up much essence from the mask sheet, making my face look much more supple and "fuller", thumbs up!
Availability: 8/10 - It is available in Watsons and you can get it online from their webstore too. Convenient for both an offline or online shopper.
Price: 9/10 - For something this awesome, it is only going for SGD $7.90/ 5 pieces! I'm not sure about the price in Watsons but it is SUCH A STEAL. Go hoard all the mask now!
Repurchase: Yes. Sexy Look once again secured its spot as one of my favourite brand when it comes to 3D masks.
P/S: I'm sure you've realised by now that I do not put pictures of me applying the mask/ before & after pictures any more. Reason is that I don't see the need to put the picture of me applying the mask as a "proof shot" [there are so many entries with me having the mask on to scare you guys already, just go search it...] and even with before & after pictures, I'm sure some people will comment that I can just photoshop the picture/ tweak the lighting.
